HYDRO CH2018 Final Symposium

Effects of climate change on Switzerland's water balance

The HYDRO CH2018 final symposium was held on 16 March 2021. At this event, the effects of climate change on Switzerland's water balance were presented. Exciting presentations showed how climate change is altering the risks in Switzerland.

For example, heavy precipitation will occur more frequently and more intensively in future. This also increases surface runoff. Around two thirds of all houses in Switzerland are already affected by surface runoff. Such events occur very locally and can cause enormous damage. Climate change will exacerbate the problem.

Egli Engineering AG supports affected homeowners in protecting themselves against surface water. The newly available data will help assess future impacts and raise awareness among property owners.

The NCCS (National Center for Climate Services) shows the effects of climate change on Switzerland's water balance in a short video.
