Climate change

Climate change is increasingly resulting in hotter and drier summer months. The precipitation pattern is changing. Intense heavy rainfall can be expected more frequently and extreme events such as heat waves and dry periods will become more frequent. This will have an impact on flora and fauna and on air quality.

We offer a variety of services in different areas of climate change. One of the sources we base this on is the study ‘Swiss Climate Scenarios CH2018’ published by the NCCS (National Center for Climate Services).

Invasive neophytes

Invasive neophytes are non-indigenous plants that are not originally native to the Swiss flora. They compete vigorously with native plants and suppress them. They can even be harmful to human and animal health.

We are currently investigating the influence of climate change on the spread of invasive plant species due to the warmer climate of the future.
