Landslide

Landslides vary in size, depth and speed. Small landslides on the surface mostly only do damage to cultivated land, but can in some cases cover roads and make them temporarily impassable. Landslides of larger size and depth can bury or move entire road sections or buildings.

Deep landslides (> 10 m) often move slowly and over the course of several decades. Depending on the conditions, their movement can accelerate over time. Such processes cause severe damage and can destroy entire neighbourhoods. Only suddenly occurring landslides pose a risk to people (mudslides).
